The brief
Cover the existing sponsor print on the club’s own first-team shirts and replace it with a charity logo, with no margin for error: if the shirts were late, the players had nothing to wear.
What we did
We started with a test print on one of the club’s garments to find the right approach. Removing the old print was ruled out, there was no time for it. Instead we covered the sponsor with flock vinyl and applied the charity logo over the flock as a cut-out colour transfer, which brings the colours out.
The club’s worry was weight: two layers on the chest of a shirt the players would run in. So we produced a free sample for them to see and feel. The players checked it, the club was happy, and the remainder of the shirts followed the same route: ready for Friday.
The result
The team went four games unbeaten after the shirts were delivered. We claim no credit for that.
Why the shirts could not simply be reprinted
Taking the existing print off was the first idea and it was dismissed quickly: there was not enough time before Saturday's league game, and removing a print from a match shirt risks the shirt.
Covering it was the route that fitted the deadline and left the kit usable. Leyton Orient, based in the London borough of Waltham Forest and known to their fans as the O's, were playing that weekend either way.
“Garment Printing were extremely helpful in producing and applying logos to our first team shirts. This was something that had an extremely short turnaround and the service we received was nothing short of first class. On top of this, the price was very competitive and I can’t thank the team at Garment Printing enough.”
