Embroidered workwear for Mama graF’s gallery and workshop
Mama graF frames things, iconic comic covers, pop-art prints, Warhol’s Marilyn, and sells them from a treasure-trove of an exhibition and workshop space. For the people working in it they wanted clothing with the logo on, and they wanted to use the clothing they already had.
The brief
Personalising a large quantity of the client’s own garments is a service we offer, but not one we see at this scale very often. It helped that Mama graF were close to our Barcelona office: they could drop the bags of clothing in themselves, for us to forward to the nearest factory.
The clothing was to be workwear for the gallery, so it had to look professional. That pointed to embroidery, which the client chose for everything: trousers, polo shirts, T-shirts and jackets.
What we did
Embroidery has one condition, the fabric has to be heavy enough for the size and weight of the stitching, or the design droops and the threads do not take properly. We inspected every garment before accepting it; all were judged suitable by our embroidery specialists.
The order was completed in good time and the embroidered garments came back to the Barcelona office for the client to collect. They have since added embroidered caps to the set.
