The brief
One hundred T-shirts, men’s and women’s, printed with one of Hoozar’s vintage designs, to sell online and at an event the following weekend. The express team had the order processed within minutes of it arriving.
What we did
The design was intricate and photographic, with a transparent background, which is a job for direct-to-garment printing. DTG sinks into white cotton and is barely noticeable to the touch, where screen or transfer would have sat heavy on the shirt. It works best on white fabric that is at least 80% cotton, and Hoozar wanted white T-shirts, so the choice made itself.
Then the stock arrived at the print house with stains on some of the shirts. Damage in transit, rare, and entirely outside our control, but it could have cost the deadline. We ordered replacement stock at once and waited for it, which left us a day less than we had planned for.
The result
The T-shirts still reached Hoozar on time. The event went well and the shirts are on sale on their website.
The scooters on the shirt
Junak was Poland's own motorcycle marque, and in 1959 one of them set the country's speed record at 149.3 km/h. One of the stories told about them is that farmers found them strong enough to plough a field when a tractor was not available.
That history is what the artwork was about, and it is why the design carried so much photographic detail: it had to look like the machines, not like a logo.
“Thank you so much! The T-shirts look amazing and they got here on time so obviously we are very happy with the service.”
— Kasia Kaszowska, marketing director, Hoozar
